Powerball Jackpot Surges To $375 Million

Wednesday June 7th 2017

The Powerball jackpot has soared to a gigantic $375 million ahead of Wednesday night, making it the 12th largest prize in the history of the game. Nobody has gotten their hands on the jackpot since April 1st and the run of 18 drawings without a winner has pushed the amount higher and higher.

The only time a bigger prize has been given away this year was when an anonymous ticket holder from Indiana matched five main numbers plus the Powerball on February 22nd to win a huge $435.3 million. There have been three jackpot winners in total in 2017, including a player from Wisconsin who has yet to come forward to claim their $156.2 million windfall.

If anyone is lucky enough to win Wednesday’s jackpot they will have the choice over whether to take the full $375 million in 30 annual installments over 29 years, or accept a one-off cash payment estimated to be worth $235.4 million. It would be an incredible amount either way and would allow the winner to realize their dreams.

Wednesday’s top prize still falls a long way short of the Powerball record of $1.58 billion, which was set in January 2016 when ticket holders from California, Florida and Tennessee split the biggest lottery jackpot of all time. However, when the jackpot reaches this sort of level it can start to grow very rapidly and it may well enter the top ten Powerball prizes if there is no winner on Wednesday.

There are still plenty of ways to win across the other prize tiers even if the jackpot remains out of reach, and on Saturday night over 1.5 million players picked up cash rewards. Three ticket holders won $1 million after matching all five main numbers, while another lucky player added Power Play to land $2 million.

If you’ve ever considered what you would like to do with a multimillion-dollar prize, you could make your dreams come true by winning on Wednesday. You’ll need to choose some numbers first, though, and you can either do so online or visit an authorized retailer in a participating jurisdiction. Good luck!
