Powerball Jackpot Reaches $1.09 Billion
Tuesday April 2nd 2024The Powerball jackpot has climbed to a ten-figure amount for the fifth time in the history of the game. The current prize amount stands at $1.09 billion, with a cash value option of $527.3 million.
The April 1, 2024 Powerball results weren’t part of a joke played by lottery officials on the participants. No one actually managed to match all the winning numbers and take the grand prize. The white balls were 19, 24, 40, 42, 56 and the Powerball number was 23. The Power Play multiplier was 2X. In the draw, there were over 2.1 million winning tickets, so make sure you check the latest results to see if one of them is yours. Out of those winning tickets, six of them matched all five main numbers and each won a $1 million prize. The lucky tickets were purchased in Florida, Maryland (x2), Minnesota, North Carolina, and Virginia. There were also 53 tickets which won third-tier prizes worth $50,000, plus 11 tickets which won $100,000 prizes thanks to the Power Play option.
This jackpot is not only the fourth-largest Powerball prize, but the ninth-largest prize ever offered by U.S. lotteries. The draw held on April 1, 2024 was actually the second consecutive one in which the next estimated jackpot on offer was worth at least $1 billion. Drew Svitko, Powerball Product Group Chair and Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director said:
“For lotteries, this is our second consecutive week of being able to offer players an advertised jackpot over $1 billion. If you’re thinking of buying a ticket for Wednesday’s Powerball drawing, please keep in mind, it only takes one ticket to win, and a portion of your ticket sale will stay in your state to support good causes. Have fun and good luck!”
The jackpot has been rolling over for 39 consecutive draws and it might keep on doing so as there is no jackpot cap and no rollover limit. The Powerball grand prize was last won in the beginning of the year, on January 1, 2024. The single winning ticket was sold in Michigan and it managed to get the lucky winner an amazing amount of $842.4 million.
