Powerball jackpot nears $100m
Monday January 17th 2011Successive jackpot rollovers in America’s inter-state lottery game Powerball have resulted in a massive estimated prize fund for this Wednesday’s draw. If just one player manages to pick the five main numbers, along with the Powerball, they will walk away with a cool $96million. That equates to a cash prize of $48.7million, before state and federal taxes are deducted.
The jackpot increased again following Saturday’s lottery draw which failed to produce a jackpot winner. The main numbers 9, 13, 22, 23 and 37 were drawn, along with the Powerball 31. A total of nine players matched five numbers and scooped the second prize of $200,000 each – however, one was sensible enough to spend an extra dollar on the Powerplay feature which bumped their total winnings up to $1million.
Anyone who can’t wait until Wednesday’s Powerball draw to buy lotto tickets can try their luck out on Tuesday’s Mega Million game. The estimated jackpot currently stands at $40million.
