Wednesday June 18th 2014

After two and a half years without a big winner, the notoriously elusive Ohio Classic Lotto jackpot has finally been won. The mystery winner matched all six numbers drawn (3, 8, 26, 28, 34 and 35) on Saturday June 14 to scoop a life-changing top prize of $73.3 million.

The impressive jackpot is the result of 374 consecutive rollovers and more than 30 months without a top tier winner; it enters the record books as the largest Ohio Classic Lotto prize ever won. The lucky ticket that finally managed the feat was purchased at Grumpy Grandpa’s Git and Go Food store, in the county of Ashtabula.

Michael Tran, an employee at Grumpy Grandpa’s Git and Go Food, said he had been inundated with questions by curious customers who were desperate to know who the big winner was. However, Tran admitted he had no idea of the winner’s identity and only found out the store had sold the ticket via Facebook!

Ohio Lottery spokeswoman Danielle Frizz-Babb issued a reminder that the lucky winner has a 180 day period to claim their prize and said she hoped they would use the time wisely to seek financial and legal advice. Ohio winners have the option of placing their winnings in a blind trust which prevents the disclosure of beneficiaries and ensures anonymity. However, if the winner does decide to come forward Lottery.net will bring you all the information on Ohio’s latest millionaire.

The next Ohio Classic Lotto draw takes place on Saturday and offers players the chance to win a single rollover jackpot of $1.1 million. However, if you’d like to compete for something a little larger, the multi-state lottery Powerball has a $50 million top prize up for grabs tonight. Tickets for the draw can be purchased online via the Lottery Tickets tab or in person from an authorised retailer.
