Mega Millions Jackpot Reaches $508 Million for Friday
Wednesday July 6th 2016The Mega Millions jackpot has shot up to an incredible $508 million for the drawing on Friday July 8th after no player could match the entire winning line in last night’s game. The current stretch of rollovers is the longest in Mega Millions history, with 34 drawings having taken place since Michael Burkett of Seattle won big in March of this year. The previous record for the largest number of rollovers was 22.
Last night’s winning Mega Millions numbers were 29, 46, 53, 64 and 73 with Mega Ball 10 and Megaplier 5. The game still created seven millionaires, with ticket holders in California, Florida, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas all matched five main numbers (but not the Mega Ball) to win $1 million each.
The huge grand prize is now the seventh-largest U.S. lottery jackpot in history, coming in behind the $564.1 million Powerball jackpot split between three ticket holders in February 2015 and well ahead of a $448.4 million Powerball jackpot shared by three winning tickets (one in Minnesota, two in New Jersey) in August 2013. In terms of Mega Millions wins, this jackpot is the third-largest, and if a single player won it on Friday and took the cash option, the $357 million lump sum that would be offered to them would outstrip the record-breaking $326 million cash prize that Harold Diamond of New York won in November 2014.
Imagine waking up on Saturday as the latest Mega Millions jackpot winner. Would you pack in your job? Would you head straight for the airport as you jetted off for the vacation of a lifetime? No matter what you’d do if you won, you have to play the game to have a shot at hitting the big one. Tickets for Friday’s game are available from authorized retailers throughout any of the states and jurisdictions that take part in Mega Millions. Good luck!
On Thursday, July 7th, the Mega Millions jackpot was re-estimated and is now worth an incredible $540 million for the drawing on Friday, July 8th!
