Mega Millions Jackpot Climbs to Over Half a Billion

This is the first time the top prize has exceeded half a billion dollars since it hit $1.5 billion last October. It is now the seventh-largest ever prize in the history of the game. The cash amount is estimated at $343.9 million.
The jackpot rolled to its current level after no one hit all six numbers in the June 4 drawing. Tuesday’s white balls were 25, 37, 46, 48 and 68, and the Mega Ball was 25.
Tuesday’s drawing did produce some impressive non-jackpot wins at other prize levels.
One ticket in Colorado scooped $2 million by matching all five white balls. Ordinarily this would have netted $1 million, but the player added the Megaplier option. The Megaplier number is drawn separately, and multiplies any non-jackpot prize. In this case it was 2X so the lucky winner doubled their prize to $2 million.
There were also four $1 million Match 5 winners who matched all five white balls. The winning tickets were sold in Arizona, Connecticut, Michigan, and Minnesota.
In the next prize tier, an impressive 46 tickets matched four of the white balls plus the gold Mega Ball. Eight of those tickets will take home $20,000 because they added Megaplier. The rest can claim a $10,000 prize.
The last jackpot was worth $50 million, won in Missouri on March 12. Since then there have been over 17.2 million winners, including 36 prizes worth $1 million or more.
The other Mega Millions jackpots so far in 2019 include $437 million won in New York on January 1, which was the ninth-largest in the game’s history, and $273 million won in New Jersey on March 1.
