We all like to dream about winning big in Powerball or Mega Millions; imagining what it must be like to see millions of dollars arrive in our account one day and go on the spending spree of a lifetime. But receiving so much money in one go could be quite overwhelming for some — we’ve all heard the stories about lottery winners who, suddenly finding themselves enormously wealthy, burn through their winnings in the blink of an eye.

Thankfully, there’s a lottery that not only makes its jackpot winners super rich, but also ensures that they stay rich for decades to come.

Launched in Connecticut in 2009, Lucky for Life plays much like every other lottery. Players pay $2 for either a Quick Pick ticket or to choose five numbers from 1 to 48, plus one extra “Lucky Ball” from 1 to 18. On draw days (Mondays and Thursdays), players hope to match anything from the Lucky Ball on its own to all five main numbers plus the Lucky Ball, winning prizes ranging from $4 all the way up to the life-changing jackpot.

Unlike the majority of lotteries, however, Lucky for Life ensures its jackpot winners a steady stream of capital for at least the next 20 years of their life. Paying out $1,000 every single day rather than millions in one go, the lottery affords its top prize winners plenty of cash to splash while also providing a degree of financial security since they will always have more money coming in. After taxes are paid, top prize winners stand to net millions of dollars over the course of their lifetime payout.

“We’re constantly looking at the trends, looking at other lotteries, games across the country and even overseas,” said WyoLotto CEO Jon Clontz of the decision to launch Lucky for Life in the Equality State. “We do our tracker studies and focus groups, we’re asking people what games they think they’d like. Through all these different processes, Lucky for Life kept coming to the top as a favorite.”

This comes just a few months after Colorado, Wyoming’s neighbour to the south, began taking part in the popular lottery, totalling 23 US lotteries that now take part in the cash-drip lottery.

Be sure to keep a close eye on the Lucky for Life numbers page to get the winning numbers for this Thursday’s drawing as they happen. Good luck, whether you’re a first-time player or a longtime Lucky for Life lover.
