Lottery retailers gear up for buying frenzy
Friday March 25th 2011Businesses and websites that sell tickets for the EuroMillions lottery are preparing themselves for a mad last-minute rush. People have already been queuing up at lottery terminals across Britain today in the hope of picking the winning numbers for tonight’s rollover draw.
The estimated jackpot stands at £117million and if just one UK winner were to scoop the lot, they would become the 570th richest person in the country - richer than recording artists Rod Stewart, Phil Collins and David Bowie.
The draw is also a potential record breaker as the jackpot would be the largest amount ever paid out to a single winner in the UK.
There are now just hours left in which to buy lotto tickets online or at a high street retailer.
British lottery organisers appear to have spared no expense in advertising tonight’s game. Yesterday, a photograph of Amanda Holden was released showing the actress lying down wearing a sheer dress, covered in diamonds, along with another shot of her posing next to a huge '£117m' prop.
A total of 14 UK winners have won the EuroMillions lottery's top prize since June 2009. The biggest winner to date is an anonymous player who scooped £113million last year.
