Hunt is on for Hoosier Lottery winner

Thursday February 10th 2011

Indiana Lottery officials have confirmed that the joint winner of last week’s Mega Millions Lottery draw has yet to come forward to claim their prize. It is now a week and a half since the $93million draw on February 1, but half of the jackpot remains unclaimed. Organisers are now urging players in the state to check and re-check their numbers from that evening to ensure they’re not holding onto the winner, which was bought at the Strack & Van Til supermarket in Ridge Road, Munster. The main numbers drawn were 16, 22, 23, 26 and 35. The Mega Ball was 31.

The Indiana player has 180 days from the date of the draw to have their winning lottery ticket validated, but it is possible the person does not yet know they have become a multi-millionaire. The lucky winner is advised to sign the back of their ticket straight away, before contacting the Indiana Lottery’s head office to register the claim.

The other half of the Mega Millions lottery jackpot was claimed almost a week ago by a 13-strong lottery syndicate from Romulus, Michigan. The group decided to opt for a lump sum cash payment of $29million before taxes.

The next Mega Millions draw, which will take place tomorrow night, has an estimated jackpot of $30million.
