Huge Shock as California Powerball Winner Collects Prize

After purchasing his ticket from an Arco gas station at 10975 Edinger Avenue, Ruiz-Castellanos awaited the drawing on Wednesday June 7th. Once the numbers 5, 21, 57, 66 and 69 appeared, The Golden State lottery lover instantly knew he was a winner, yet was convinced that he was only due $1,600.
However, upon closer inspection of his ticket, coupled with a little internet browsing, the delighted winner soon realized that he was mistaken. He had defied odds of over 11.6 million to one and was actually in line to receive an incredible $1.6 million, 1,000 times the amount he had originally thought. In fact, Ruiz-Castellanos was just the Powerball number (13) away from getting his hands on the $380.6 million jackpot.
After waiting a little over a month to claim his prize, Ruiz-Castellanos finally surfaced at California Lottery headquarters on Friday to claim his reward. The overjoyed Match 5 winner revealed to Powerball officials that he plans to invest his newfound windfall in his business, before using the remainder to help his family.
Elsewhere, New Jersey Lottery officials are on the lookout for a Powerball winner who won a $1 million prize in the drawing on Wednesday July 12th. The mystery ticket holder correctly matched the numbers 1, 2, 18, 23 and 61 to become the winner of the largest prize on the night.
There were no jackpot winners on Saturday night, meaning that Wednesday evening’s premium Powerball prize will be worth an estimated $187 million.
