Rebecca T. bought the winning ticket from her local Speedway convenience store ahead of the drawing on Saturday 6th May. After talking to her adult daughter about a dream she had had about Powerball, the hopeful parent started selecting the same numbers week after week in an attempt to cash in on the fantasy.

Luckily, the dream soon came true as Rebecca celebrated her good fortune by winning a prize. However, her daughter hadn’t quite finished supplying her mother with joy just yet. What was originally thought to be a ticket worth $100,000 was actually worth $1 million. In fact, the ticket was just one number - the Powerball (21) - away from scooping the $149.2 million jackpot.

Needless to say, Rebecca was delighted with her win and always thought that her big break was just around the corner: “I always said we would hit (the jackpot) one day,” she told Hoosier Lottery officials. However, upon collecting her reward, it was clear that the enormity of the situation still hadn’t quite sunk in: “(I) can’t believe it actually happened,” she said.

Rebecca, who overcame odds of over 11.6 million to 1, was one of four players to land a seven-figure sum in what proved to be a profitable drawing for over 550,000 ticket holders. She now plans to share her newfound wealth with her family and finally realise her dream of building a tiny home.

If you’ve had a Powerball-themed dream, now’s your chance to make it into a reality. To get your hands on tonight’s jackpot, which is worth an estimated $204 million, you can pick your numbers online or play via any authorised retailer in participating states and jurisdictions. Good luck!
