Coronavirus Lottery Changes for June 15
Monday June 15th 2020The latest coronavirus-related lottery changes across the U.S., including claim drop-offs in Connecticut, Iowa, and South Carolina, and reopened claim centers in Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, and Pennsylvania.
Playing the lottery online is a convenient, secure way to take part in the excitement of Powerball, Mega Millions and more while staying at home - with automatic prize payouts if you win.
Connecticut
The lottery has introduced a drop-off claims process while public access to its office remains restricted. Players can now leave their claims of $600 - $9,999 at lottery headquarters from Monday - Friday, 11:00am-1:00pm ET. No appointment is needed.
Winners also now have the option to claim prizes of $10,000-$49,999 in person by appointment only. To organize a booking, please call 860-713-2680.
This is the address for drop-offs and appointments:
Connecticut Lottery Headquarters
777 Brook Street
Rocky Hill, CT 06067
Here are all the claim options available depending on the prize value:
- Up to $599: claim by mail or visit a lottery retailer
- Up to $5,000: claim by mail, at a High-Tier Claim Center, or via drop-off
- $5,001 - $9,999: claim by mail or drop-off
- $10,000 - $49,999: claim by mail or in person at Lottery HQ (appointment required)
- $50,000: claim in person at Lottery HQ (appointment required)
The lottery has extended the deadline to redeem winning tickets that would have expired between March 16 and June 14, 2020.
Players with questions about claims may get in touch with the lottery by email at ctlottery@ctlottery.org or call 860-713-2700.
Identification
Winners are required to present two valid forms of ID that include your signature, including one photo ID, when claiming a prize. The lottery will accept government-issued ID (such as driver's license, Social Security card or passport), credit card with signature, or work ID with photo and signature.
In-person claims
Winners must have an appointment to make an in-person claim at the Rocky Hill headquarters. The lottery has put in place health measures that all visitors are required to follow:
- Use hand sanitizer when you enter the office
- Wear a face mask inside the building
- Practice social distancing
- Only the claimant will be allowed into the building unless they require assistance
Drop-off claims
When you drop off your claim at Rocky Hill, you'll need to provide an envelope containing the completed and signed winning ticket, two forms of ID (see above), and your daytime phone number.
When you arrive, call 860-713-2680 and a staff member will come out to meet you and provide a claim receipt.
Drop-off claims are not paid on the same day. The lottery processes claims in the order they're received and mails prize checks.
If you've been lucky enough to win $5,000 or more, please be patient because you may need to complete and return tax forms to the lottery before a check can be issued.
Mega Millions advance action ticket refunds
Following the Mega Millions jackpot win on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, the Connecticut Lottery is offering a refund on any advance action (multi-draw) tickets with remaining draws purchased before that date.
In April, Mega Millions announced changes to the minimum starting jackpot and rollover amounts that would come into effect after the next jackpot win, and the CT Lottery committed to making refunds available.
If you'd like a refund, call the Claims Department at 860-713-2680 or complete the back of your ticket and a Refund Claim Form and mail to:
