The Irish Lottery winner, who has spent the last 10 years focusing on developing the whiskey, strongly believes that the Danny Boy brand will eventually have a place amongst some of the finest Irish whiskey names.

Independent distillery Cooley, who won World Distiller of the Year in 2008, now has the Irish Lottery winners Danny Boy Premium Blend as its first private label since winning the award. The monopoly, until then was controlled by Irish Distiller Group. Its brands  include, Connemara, Kilbeggan, Locke’s and Millars and the distillery was founded 22 years ago in 1987.

Mr Lavery, a former city bus driver, became Belfast’s 1st millionaire Irish lottery winner after winning a massive £10.2m back in 1996. Since then, he has put his newfound wealth and status to good use by setting up and raising money for a string of local charities. These include  the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, and the Northern Ireland Chest, Heart and Stroke association. He has also set up the Rita and Charles Trust in memory of his beloved parents.

As one who enjoys fine whiskey, Mr Lavery is in no doubt, as to the future success of his new venture.
