Business venture for Irish Lottery winner
Friday July 24th 2009A new blended Irish whiskey is the latest business venture for Irish Lottery winner, Peter Lavery. Called the Danny Boy Premium Blend whiskey, Mr Lavery said “It is vital that businesses invest in the future during the current economic times” and it is expected that the new blend whiskey will be available in bars, hotel and off licenses all over Northern Ireland Later this month.
The Irish Lottery winner, who has spent the last 10 years focusing on developing the whiskey, strongly believes that the Danny Boy brand will eventually have a place amongst some of the finest Irish whiskey names.
Independent distillery Cooley, who won World Distiller of the Year in 2008, now has the Irish Lottery winners Danny Boy Premium Blend as its first private label since winning the award. The monopoly, until then was controlled by Irish Distiller Group. Its brands include, Connemara, Kilbeggan, Locke’s and Millars and the distillery was founded 22 years ago in 1987.
Mr Lavery, a former city bus driver, became Belfast’s 1st millionaire Irish lottery winner after winning a massive £10.2m back in 1996. Since then, he has put his newfound wealth and status to good use by setting up and raising money for a string of local charities. These include the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, and the Northern Ireland Chest, Heart and Stroke association. He has also set up the Rita and Charles Trust in memory of his beloved parents.
As one who enjoys fine whiskey, Mr Lavery is in no doubt, as to the future success of his new venture.
