Appeal for National Lottery winner to come forward

Friday December 17th 2010

The hunt is on to find the winner of a £5.6m National Lottery jackpot, which still remains unclaimed two weeks after the draw took place. Organisers of the UK’s National Lottery have urged players to make sure they check their old tickets and have a good look under the sofa in case they are literally sitting on a fortune.

The ticket was bought in the Port Talbot area, near Swansea, ahead of a double rollover draw which took place on Wednesday, December 1. The six main numbers were 20, 21, 22, 24, 27 and 34, and the bonus ball was 29.

The winner has until 5.30pm on Monday, May 30, 2011, to claim their winnings. If the prize remains unclaimed, then the whole amount, along with any interest earned, will go to support good causes.

A National lottery spokesperson said: “We’re desperate to find this mystery ticket-holder and unite them with their winnings – this amazing prize could really make a huge difference to somebody’s life and would be a wonderful Christmas surprise.”

Some people who buy lottery tickets understandably need time to come to terms with a big win before coming forward to claim their prize. Arizona Lottery player Sheila Verke took more than two weeks to claim the $95.3million jackpot prize she won at the start of the month.
