Friday October 26th 2018

One of the biggest Powerball jackpots of all time was won on Saturday night as two lucky ticket holders from Iowa and New York matched all five main numbers and the Powerball to take home $343.9 million each. The jackpot had rolled over for 21 consecutive draws before being won in one of the most exciting weeks in lottery history.

What Were The Winning Numbers?

The winning numbers in Saturday’s draw were 8, 12, 13, 19 and 27, plus Powerball 4. Despite 13 ticket holders getting close to landing the jackpot themselves after matching all five numbers, they just missed out after the Powerball eluded them. This meant the two players from Iowa and New York were able to claim the full jackpot for themselves.

No further information has been revealed about the winner as of yet, although when they come forward to claim their prize, they must decide whether to take the cash lump sum or annuity payments. A full prize breakdown from the draw can be found on the Powerball Numbers page.

One of the Biggest Ever Jackpots

Following news that the biggest jackpot in Mega Millions history had been won by a ticket holder in Simpsonville, South Carolina, on Tuesday October 23rd, expectations were certainly high amongst Powerball players that they could follow suit a matter of days later with another big jackpot win.

The Powerball jackpot had been rolling over ever since 42-year-old New Yorker Nandlall Mangal took home $245 million on August 11th, and the latest winner has become the lottery’s seventh jackpot winner of the year. The estimated $750 million jackpot advertised beforehand was comfortably one of the largest in the game’s history, although it still trailed the record $1.58 billion prize shared between three ticket holders in 2016 by some distance.

Had the Powerball jackpot rolled over again, it might have threatened to topple the world record, but the top prize will now automatically reset to $40 million following this big win.
