$536 Million Indiana Mega Millions Winner Revealed

Friday July 29th 2016

The $536 million Mega Millions jackpot won on Friday, July 8th has been claimed by a family from Indiana who purchased their ticket at a Speedway gas station in Cambridge City. The prize is the third-largest in the game’s history and was the result of 34 rollovers stretching back to March of this year.

A press conference took place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway today, at which marketing and PR strategist Lauren Littlefield of Willow Marketing accepted a check on behalf of a lucky Indiana family. The winners claimed their prize through a limited liability company named Warren D in order, said Littlefield, to protect the privacy of their children. Under current Indiana laws, lottery winners can form a trust or a limited liability corporation to claim a prize, assuring their anonymity.

The family admitted to being "overwhelmed" by their good fortune, but vowed to continue living in the state, announcing "we love Indiana" in a written statement. The private players won the gigantic sum the first time they played Mega Millions, although they had staked on Powerball in the past. The winners opted for the cash lump sum worth $378 million ($271 million after taxes).

They picked up their ticket as they embarked on a road trip to a kids' sports event out of state, playing five Quick Pick Mega Millions lines when they stopped for gas. They initially forget they had played the lottery, only later checking their entries online, having to reboot their computer to make sure the numbers displayed, which matched with those on one of their tickets, were correct.

You could follow in this fortuitous family's footsteps by buying Mega Millions tickets in any of the participating states. Don't forget to check your entries at the Winning Numbers page of Lottery.net after the drawing takes place.
