$33.2 Million Powerball Jackpot Won in New Jersey
Sunday January 31st 2021A single ticket in New Jersey hit the $33.2 million Powerball jackpot in last night's draw - the second top prize won in the Garden State in the past week.
Saturday's prize is the latest in an exciting run of recent jackpot wins - none of which have been claimed yet:
- Wednesday, January 20: A Maryland player won a $731.1 million Powerball prize, the fourth-largest in the game's history
- Friday, January 22: A Michigan ticket hit a $1 billion Mega Millions jackpot - the game's second-highest ever prize
- Saturday, January 23: A NJ ticket scored a $23.2 million Powerball payout
New Jersey's newest multimillionaire purchased their ticket from Quick Chek #165, located at 250 Ridgedale Ave., Cedar Knolls in Morris County. The store will be paid a $30,000 bonus from the NJ Lottery.
The ticket matched all six numbers drawn on Saturday, January 31, including white balls 1, 2, 7, 52, and 61 and the red Powerball 4. The Power Play multiplier was 3X.
"Congratulations to the winner of this multi-million-dollar jackpot! We encourage the winner to sign the back of the ticket, make a copy of both sides and put it in a safe place," said New Jersey Lottery Executive Director James Carey. "We recommend contacting a financial advisor and an attorney before reaching out to Lottery officials at 1-800-222-0996 to arrange to file a claim for this jackpot prize."
In January 2020, Jersey lottery winners gained the right to stay anonymous if they wish, so last night's winner will have the option to keep their identity private.
NJ prizes must be claimed within a year of the winning draw date. The winner will then have 60 days to decide between an annuity payout of the full jackpot, spread over 30 annual payments, or a single cash option lump sum of approximately $24.8 million. Both amounts are before taxes.
Tickets in Arizona and Pennsylvania scored $2 million wins after they matched the five white balls with tickets that included the optional $1 Powerplay add-on, which doubles the value of the Match 5 second prize. Last night's Power Play number was 3X, tripling the value of lower-tier prizes.
Tickets worth $1 million were sold in Delaware and Mississippi - these lucky winners matched all five white ball numbers.
11 players across the country hit the game's third prize of $50,000 last night. Two of those tickets are actually worth $150,000 thanks to the addition of Power Play.
Check your numbers now to find out if you're one of the lucky Powerball winners.
The next chance to score a Powerball win is on Wednesday, February 3 and you can get your tickets now. The jackpot value has reset to its current starting level of $20 million with a $15 million cash value. Adding more excitement, there's the potential for a 10X Power Play multiplier to be selected due to the jackpot being less than $150 million.
