$120 million MegaMillions Jackpot Claimed
Wednesday September 19th 2012The winner of last week’s MegaMillions jackpot of $120 million has come forward to claim his prize. Ronald Willis, a 55 year old father of four from Rialto, California, claimed his prize from the California Lottery’s Inland Empire District Office on Friday, and is still deciding whether to take the cash option of the annuity payments. The cash pay-out would total $92.1 million, and the annuity would equate to $4.6 million per year.
Mr Willis faced a barrage of TV cameras upon claiming his prize, and happily gave interviews to the press who were eagerly waiting for a chance to chat to California’s newest MegaMillions millionaire. He bought the ticket from the 7-11 store at 370 Iowa Avenue, and the winning numbers – 5, 11, 20, 33, 36 and 11 – were made up of a combination of his family’s birthdays and anniversaries. Upon hearing the news that he had won, Mr Willis said he was calm and sat back to let the news sink in. “I’m not a yeller or a jump around type of guy,” he said, adding that his family did enough joy jumping for all of them!
Undoubtedly, the 7-11 he purchased the ticket from will do a little jumping for joy of their own too, as they stand to benefit from a $600,000 reward for selling the winning ticket.
